Coppenbarger is a a native of Buncombe County and lives just outside of Boone in Brushy Fork. He is a former Appalachian Sustainability student and the Grounds Keeper and Head of Maintenance at Daniel Boone Inn and is running unopposed. I know Coppenbarger personally and was delighted he put himself forward as a candidate for this seat.

Coppenbarger has been endorsed by Down Home NC, the working-class advocacy org.  He helps organize river cleanup events and is a familiar face to volunteers who help clean up and maintain our local rivers. He is personable and energetic and has been attending Soil and Water District meetings as a citizen.

Coppenbarger will participate as a scientist on the Board with optimism and a unique amount of energy to encourage and fire up others with innovative agricultural options and ideas.
